Electronic Signature Compliance
MusiSign is designed to support electronic signature workflows with traceability, audit evidence and document verification features. This page summarises the general legal framework and evidential features of the platform.
1. Legal framework
Electronic signatures may be recognised under various legal frameworks, including Regulation (EU) No. 910/2014 (eIDAS), as amended, in the European Union and, where applicable, the ESIGN Act and UETA in the United States. The exact legal effect of a signed Document can depend on jurisdiction, document type, signer authority and the evidence available.
2. No universal legal guarantee
MusiSign provides technology and evidence to support electronic signing workflows. It does not guarantee that every Document is valid, enforceable or appropriate for electronic signature in every jurisdiction or situation. Musifacts Europe BV is not presented as a qualified trust service provider unless a separate written agreement explicitly says otherwise. Users should obtain legal advice where the form of signature is legally sensitive.
3. Audit evidence
MusiSign may record evidence including:
- Document and envelope identifiers;
- Recipient identifiers and email addresses;
- signature identifiers and completion timestamps;
- IP address and browser/device information;
- events such as opening, viewing, signing, declining or completing a Document;
- document integrity or verification data where implemented.
4. PDF sealing and document traceability
Completed Documents may include visible identifiers, signature references, page-level traceability information, audit certificates or other verification markers. The completed PDF may also be signed with a configured certificate-based signing transport after signature fields and annotations are normalised. These features are intended to make it easier to connect a signed Document to its audit trail and original workflow, and to make later alteration easier to detect.
5. User responsibilities
Senders remain responsible for choosing the correct signature process, identifying Recipients accurately, ensuring signer authority and verifying that electronic signature is appropriate for the Document in question.
